An Essential Description On SuperLasik Surgery In Comparison To Lasik

By Michael Flum

There is a new technology that is an improvement of Lasik technology. It is called SuperLasik. This method is safer than Lasik because it is suitable for patients who have abnormal corneas and in this category are those with thin corneas too. Studies have also shown that the procedure has effects that are more precise and that will last longer.

The process is performed using an instrument which raises a thinner flap than the one raised during Lasik surgery. They use a class of the most recent lasers to perform surface ablation. After that the flap will be restored to the position it was in before. The process does not change the corneal structure in any way. That is what makes it suitable for application to abnormal cornea.

As long as a patient has attained the age of eighteen they can have the procedure done. It is a worthy process because the patient will be able to save on the money that they were to use in getting eyewear to correct the problem and spend on visiting eye specialists. In addition to that the fact that there is minimum or no trauma making it a safe option.

A patient who gets the process done will leave with a clear vision. They even get an improved outlook due to this. Patients are normally back to routine the next day and some even get to be driving. In addition to this they feel a rejuvenation because of the renewed outlook on life being performed on thin flaps and being a safe process adds to its advantages.

There is a disadvantage to this procedure though. Some patients who suffer from some conditions cannot have the surgery performed on them. It may be conditions such as cataracts present and conditions of immunological or corneal diseases for example keratoconous. This though only affects a group of patients with these conditions.

It is important that a patient gets the pre Lasik and SuperLasik tests run on them before the surgery. This is because they might be having any of the conditions that makes them unsuitable candidates for the procedure. It is also important that they understand what the procedure is all about before they get it done. The surgeon should give the patient a step by step guide on the SuperLasik procedure before performing it.

It is also of importance that they get the opinion of patients who have undergone the same before. Also of importance is the method of payment that they shall use. They should be able to do the payment with little strain to cap it all off.
