Lasak Eye Surgery: Newer and Better

By Harvin Gulfill

Because of eye problems, certain limitations are necessary to maintain safety both for the individual and the public. Dreams of working in the military or air force are no longer possible or if ever, can be very hard to achieve. Issue of health and safety are also taken into concern.

Even with the assistance of glasses or contact lenses, people with eye problems still cannot do everything they want to do. Fortunately, science and research paved the way for a clearer future with LASAK eye surgery.

There are a total of three kinds of laser guided refractive eye surgery. These are the LASIK, LASEK and LASAK eye surgery. Each of them emerged in that order. LASIK was first used approximately more than two decades ago. Over the years, scientists and researchers found a way to improve the procedure.

LASIK is a low risk procedure that can be beneficial to the most part of people suffering from vision problems. Another kind of eye surgery is the LASEK surgery. It differs from LASIK in such a way that instead of cutting the stroma it is left uncut and the procedure uses a much finer blade.

On the other hand LASAK eye surgery is the newest and most modern kind of LASIK surgery. The flap that is cut within the procedure is much thinner therefore it preserves more corneal tissue. It is a very ideal method to undergo especially with people who have thin corneas.

However, the additional benefits of this procedure is manifested in such a way that the healing time is relatively shorter and with fewer complications involved. Dry eyes which are also a common concern for the older methods is no longer much of a concern for LASAK eye surgery. Pain is also greatly minimized and others even report of not feeling any pain at all. Lastly, eyesight after the surgery is reported to be much steadier for a lot of people.
